2. What this site does and does not do

This website is deliberately minimal in its data handling:

• It sets no cookies and contains no advertising or tracking pixels.
• It runs no analytics — there is no Google Analytics, Meta pixel, or comparable tool.
• It stores a single item in your browser's local storage: your chosen language (svb-lang). This never leaves your device and is not personal data in any transmitted sense. Clearing your browser data removes it.
• It loads web fonts from Google Fonts (see section 5).

3. Server log files

When you open this site, our hosting provider automatically records standard access data: the requesting IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and details of your browser and operating system. This data is technically necessary to deliver the site and to maintain its security and stability.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website. Log data is stored by our hosting provider (provider name, e.g. Netlify, Vercel, Hetzner) for retention period, typically 7–30 days and then deleted.

4. The contact form

If you send an enquiry through the form, we process the name, email address, subject, and message you provide, together with the language setting of the page, solely in order to answer you and to handle any follow-up correspondence.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual steps, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR on the basis of the consent you give by ticking the confirmation box. You may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future by emailing us.

Form submissions are processed by form provider, e.g. Formspree Inc. — or delete this line if the form opens the visitor's own mail client acting as our processor under Art. 28 GDPR. We retain enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your matter and thereafter in accordance with statutory retention periods.

The form includes a hidden field that is invisible to visitors and is used only to detect automated spam submissions. It collects no information about you.

5. Web fonts

Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited). When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which necessarily transmits your IP address to Google and may transfer data to servers in the United States. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in a consistent typographic presentation.

If you prefer to avoid this connection entirely, the fonts can be self-hosted; ask the site operator. Google's own privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

6. External links

This site links to stephanievonbismarck.com and to podcast platforms. Following a link takes you to a third party whose own privacy policy applies; we have no control over their processing.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• request confirmation of whether we process your data, and access to it (Art. 15);
• have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16);
• have your data erased (Art. 17);
• have processing restricted (Art. 18);
• receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20);
• object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21);
• withdraw consent you have given, at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3)).

8. Right to complain

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority for Berlin is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.
